How To Update Samsung Galaxy S I9000 with CM10.1 RC5 JB 4.2.2 Custom ROM

Update Galaxy S I9000 JB 4.2.2 Custom ROM

1. Download the CM10.1 RC5 firmware from here.
2. Use the link from here and download the Google Apps package.
3. Save the files on your computer.
4. Don’t unzip the files.
5. Connect the Galaxy S with the PC; use its USB cord.
6. Copy-paste, or just drag and drop both downloaded files from the computer to your phone’s SD card.
7. Disconnect the handset from the PC by removing the USB cable.
8. Turn off your smartphone.
9. Reboot it into recovery mode – press and hold Power, Volume Up and Home buttons at the same time.
10. From recovery first of all wipe the data; you can do this by selecting “wipe data factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”.
11. Return to the main menu and by using the same this time choose “install zip from sd card” followed by “choose zip from sd card”.
12. Pick the CM10.1 update and flash the same on your Galaxy S.
13. Wait while the ROM is being installed.
14. In the end, repeat the step and install the Google Apps package too.
15. Select “+++go back+++” and “reboot system now”.
16. Done.

Congratulations, you have updated your Samsung Galaxy S I9000 with CM10.1 RC5 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Custom ROM. Remember that this is only the beta version of the software so there might be some minor bugs and issues. Therefore, if you feel like restoring the old Android OS back, reboot into recovery mode once more and choose the Nandroid backup option.

Earlier we reported that the p0sixspwn Windows jailbreak was nearing release and was in its final testing phase. Well, winocm, ih8sn0w and SquiffyPwn have just released p0sixspwn 1.0.3 for Windows -- the untethered jailbreak for iOS devices 6.1.3 - 6.1.5.

The Mac version will soon be updated to 1.0.3 as well (currently its 1.0.2). However, if you were experiencing issues with 1.0.2, we recommend you try 1.0.3 as it is more stable.
